NATURES WAY
Nature's Way is an all-natural, nutrient-rich soil conditioner that does the work of manure, peat, fertilizer, and even high quality top soil. In fact, it looks, feels, and smells like rich earth.
But believe it or not, this material is actually earthworm castings, and is actually the byproduct of swine manure ingested by worms. The earthworm's digestive system completely removes e.Coli and other pathogens, as do the micro-organisms in the castings that also feed on them. (Hog manure is actually highly nutritious for the worms and the consistency of this feedstock produces consistent, high-quality castings.)
The castings contain a diverse colony of plant-positive microbes, bacteria, and humates. Working in concert in the soil, they ultimately make any plant more healthy and robust by competing with/digesting negative organisms, while also helping maximize the plant's growth hormones and suppressing disease. The amounts of nutrients present in our product combined with those already present in the soil are usually more than sufficient and the organisms do the rest. Nature's Way simply renews the biological activity in soil that has been eliminated through years of petrochemical-based fertilizers and pesticides.
How well does it work?
In a study performed by the Department of Agriculture's soil ecology lab at Ohio State University , germination, fruit size, and quality were measured and compared between hothouse tomatoes grown with traditional planting media and media blended with our castings. Results included a 58% increase in yield and an 84% increase in marketable tomatoes when grown in the castings blend.
In addition, there was a remarkable improvement in tomato size. Compared with traditional soil enhancements, the castings blend producing larger tomatoes! Almost 80% of the tomatoes grown in the castings blend were large, compared to only 45% of the tomatoes grown in the traditional media. Conversely, only 3% of the tomatoes grown in the castings blend were “small,” compared to 15% grown in the traditional media.
The nutritional benefits of Nature's Way hold true for any plant. In many cases, this can eliminate the need for any other soil amendments or treatment of the plant.
Recent studies of compost and vermicompost in general at OSU indicate that these products have pesticide qualities in addition to suppression of plant disease. Further studies at NC State University indicate that a mere 20% blend of this amazing product can reduce a plant's watering needs by a similar amount!
